LARRABEE STATE PARK WORK DAY SYNOPSIS
May 17, 2011
The North Sound Conservancy (NSC) hosted a Work Day at Larrabee State Park on Saturday, May 14, 2011. 20 wonderful people came out to help the park rangers spruce up the grounds for this coming summer season. Mother Nature kept the rain at bay for the entire day as these volunteers pulled ivy (lots of it), trimmed Rhodie bushes, raked away winter debris in and around the tables and picnic areas, and trimmed branches from Cedar and Vine Maple trees. A lot was accomplished in just five short hours, and the rangers were very pleased with all the help that was given to them. The NSC graciously provided a stellar lunch to all who helped. Next year, the plan is to install new BBQ grills and do a lot more trimming! Budget cuts are taking devastating tolls on sustaining our parks, so won't you think about volunteering your time next year to help our parks?
